Safety Concerns You Deserve to Know: 'Walnut Hollow Heat Tool Review'
Walnut Hollow Heat Tool Review |
You may recognize this as one of the most easily accessible heat tools available.
Craft stores of all kinds have these, I even saw one on the shelf at a 'big box store.'
The most attractive selling point is their cost-effective pricing.
The Walnut Hollow 'heat tool' is inexpensive (Around $30) compared to luxury models available for online order-only ($60-90)
Is the lower price point and immediate availability really worth it, though?

The good news is that this tool, does 'work.'
The Walnut Hollow 'heat tool' comes with 11 tips for different uses:
- Universal
- Flow Tapered
- Calligraphy
- Shading
- Mini Flow
- Hot Knife
- Solder
- 3 Stamps
- plus lead-free solder
Every one of the tips fits the way it should, and does what it was designed to do.
This particular tool is useful and functional, but do not skip these important safety tips:
1.) The flimsy metal stand that comes with this kit does need to be secured in place prior to preheating your tool. Use duct or masking tape to secure the legs of the stand to a flat, clutter-free surface.
2.) The temperature dial is loose and requires securing as well. You may preheat your tool to a particular heat setting before you started working, but if you don't secure the dial with tape your project could quickly out-of-hand as the dial moves on it's own to a higher or lower setting if it's not secured with tape.
The Walnut Hollow 'heat tool' is perfect for someone who might only need a heat tool for occasional projects. It would also make a neat gift for the artist in your life who always love to try something new.
As for the dedicated 'pyrographer,' I would recommend investing a little more up front for something a little more sturdy.
