Can You Get A Wearable Wig for Cheap?
Can you really get a wearable wig for $40?
Alright so, I guess it isn't really the ULTIMATE question, but I still really wanted to answer the question for myself.
A really nice 'full-lace human-hair-wig' would be the absolute dream, for me. To have someone else make it for me. Then, have it applied professionally. I mean, that would be the ultimate. Unfortunately, that's b e y o n d what I can afford even in my wildest dreams.
So, when a Brad Mondo video popped up in my news feed for how to style a 'cheap' amazon wig... My ears perked up a little.
How cheap are we talking, here? Turns out the answer is from about $35-40, plus a little know-how and a ton of elbow-grease...
The question then became; If I actually try to follow these instructions, can I end up with a wearable wig?
To find the answer, I purchased two different wigs from Amazon. One was all-black hair, another a black-silver Ombre. Both about the same price range ($35-40)
After cutting and styling both of the wigs; the natural hair color passed far easier in-public than the fun-colored one. I definitely got a ton of second glances trying to pass the silver one at the grocery store. That one will be a costume piece for sure. Something I'll wear on more of an 'occasion.'
My answer would have to be "kind-of..."
My conclusion on cheap wigs is that the synthetic hair is challenging to work with- and it might take a beginner a few tries to get a wig styled well enough to 'sort-of' pass in public. These more accessibly priced wigs can also be anywhere from 'some-what' to 'very' uncomfortable. Realistically, I could maybe see myself working an 8 hour day in an air-conditioned office wearing one of these two wigs. However, that wig is coming OFF at the end of the day.
That being said, I still had a lot of fun with these. Wearing a wig is such an instant, fun transformation.
I'm totally hooked on these cheaper synthetic wigs, I'm already planning on adding a shorter bob-length wig to my collection! (Even though I still dream of having a real human-hair wig one day.)

Thank you for reading!
Until next time,
